Better than Sea World any day

This is called a spy hop. Apparently Orcas (from the dolphin family by the way) are the only ones that do this. Supposedly they are just poking their head above water to take a look around....

I'm not sure how anyone would know this because I've never had very good luck getting answers from the whales about why they do the things they do... However, it is really cool to get to see Killer Whales.

Happy Anniversary!

On June 11th we celebrated our 6th anniversary. We share our anniversary with some very special people so this is a late wish for many happy years to come for Kirk and Diane and Jesse and Tricia!

A few days in the sun

Reid had a week long training in Flagstaff Arizona so we flew to Phoenix a few days before and stayed a little bit afterward (me longer than originally planned) and were able to spend some time with Karmen and Paige. We were also able to go to Olive's blessing and to spend time with Brian and Kim while they were in town.

While we were in Flagstaff for Reid's training we visited the Grand Canyon for our first time.

Visiting a temple is not exactly an easy thing to do when you live on an island so we always try to visit when we go on vacation.

In May I ran a half marathon relay with my friends. My camera died before it was my turn to run so this is about the only picture I have from the race. All four of us ran our personal best at this race so I felt it was successful---and fun!

This was our memorial day fishing trip.....no fish

This time of year we see a lot of orcas. Male orcas have a very tall fin as you can see above. This fin is probably 6-8 feet tall.

Reid started fishing again in either March or April. Fresh halibut and crab is yummy.

For Spring Break Reid and I had a stay-cation while all of our friends were on a real vacation. We made umbrella drinks and stoked up the fire so we could wear shorts and flip flops around the house. We ate whatever tropical fruit we could find in the grocery store here and watched movies and went out to dinner so that we could pretend that we got out of town and away from the snow.
