When it comes to hunting Alaskan Brown Bears, the three best options for locations are on one of the ABC islands. Reid and Kirk chose the A for Admiralty Island, located west of Juneau. They loaded our truck and boat on to the ferry and then traveled to Kake. In Kake, they launched the boat and traveled 25 miles on the ocean to the Forest Service cabin they rented on Admiralty Island. They rented the cabin for a whole week and had ferry tickets to return the following weekend, but changed their plans after shooting 2 bears in 3 days! They arrived home, very smelly, and soaked to the bone. It took days to dry everything out! Hunting in SE Alaska (with our annual rainfall of 14-16 FEET) is a whole different story compared to hunting in Montana! They had a great time and are ready to do it all over again, now that they are brown bear hunting professionals!
